ABOUT US
As the daughter of a famous architect and pianist, Debbie Marino was born and raised with an eye for detail and creative expression. After she spent time raising her 3 children in their formative years, she decided to take her talents outside of the home and begin a business with her husband, Terry, incorporating the things she knows and loves best: art and family; the Giving Tree Gallery was born.
The family owned and operated the first Giving Tree Gallery first in the
Chicago area. Shortly after the shop opened its doors, their first born daughter
turned 16. One particularly snowy day, the daughter announced she was taking
the car to her friend’s house. The very thought of their daughter
driving in the snow terrified them enough to consider a move to some place
that didn’t have snow! In the words of one of their favorite artists
Brian Andreas: “they drove south one winter until they could stand
outside with no coats on and we never saw them again.” Again using
art to guide them, their destination was unsurprisingly, Sarasota,
Florida: world renowned for a foundation set in the arts and home
to a major tourist destination, St. Armand’s Circle.
To spend the day amongst beautiful hand crafted American items, sharing them with people that come through their doors and working side by side with their family, Debbie and Terry feel they live a very blessed life.
